Okay, so summer really is different, right? The days go on forever, evenings stay warm enough that nobody wants to go inside, and there's always this itch to just do something spontaneous. Last minute beach trip. Random drive because the sky looked pretty. That's summer.

But here's the annoying part: it's shockingly easy to blink and miss it. Work doesn't slow down just because it's nice out. If you've got kids, your calendar isn't yours anymore, it's theirs. Add family stuff and friends wanting pool days, and suddenly Labor Day shows up and you realize you and your partner never actually did anything together all summer. Been there. My husband and I used to let entire summers go by like that before we finally got smart about it.

Argentina is not a country you can wing. It's the eighth largest country on earth, and the distance between its biggest attractions is the kind of thing that trips up travelers who assume a “quick hop” between cities. A trip to Argentina that includes Buenos Aires, Patagonia, and Iguazú Falls means covering thousands of miles, often on separate flights, through wildly different climates and landscapes. You could be sweating through a subtropical jungle one day and layering up for glacier winds two days later.

That's exactly why a well-planned 10-day itinerary matters so much here. Argentina rewards travelers who plan around flight schedules, regional pacing, and realistic expectations for how much ground they can cover. It punishes the ones who try to cram in five regions and end up spending half their trip in airports.

There's a moment on almost every Cabo honeymoon I plan where the couple stops talking, usually somewhere around sunset, and just looks at the water. The Sea of Cortez does that to people. Jacques Cousteau called it the aquarium of the world, and when the light hits it right in the evening, the whole bay turns copper and pink at once. It's the kind of view that makes an eight-hour flight from the East Coast feel like nothing.

Los Cabos has become one of my most-booked honeymoon destinations, and for good reason. It's close, it's easy, and it somehow manages to be both a party town and a place where you can disappear into a private plunge pool for four days straight. Couples come to me wanting very different things out of a honeymoon: some want to do nothing but eat, sleep, and watch the ocean change color, others want to snorkel a reef in the morning and be at a rooftop bar by sundown. Cabo is one of the rare places that genuinely accommodates both without you having to choose.

Few places make a case for themselves as a honeymoon destination quite like Croatia. You've got the Adriatic Sea in that impossible shade of blue, stone towns that look like they were carved rather than built, and a stretch of coastline where every turn seems to reveal another perfect little cove. Whether you and your new spouse are foodies chasing fresh seafood and local wines, sun-worshippers who want to spend three straight days on a boat, or history buffs who want to wander old fortress walls hand in hand, Croatia has a version of the trip that fits.

Summer is my favorite season to plan trips for clients, and if I'm being honest, it might be my favorite season to travel myself. There's something about the long daylight hours and the sense that the whole country has opened its doors that makes summer the ideal time to explore different regions of the United States. I've planned summer itineraries that involve nothing but sand between someone's toes for a week, and I've planned summer itineraries built entirely around national park hikes and alpine lakes. Neither one is more “correct” than the other. The best destination for you really does depend on the kind of trip you're after.
